2025 Legislative Priorities
THE FOLLOWING REPRESENTS THE CLAY COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD’S PRIORITIES FOR 2025
Funding
Increase the Base Student Allocation (BSA) to support the rising costs of goods and services.
Expand funding for the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program sufficient to cover the cost of a full-day Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Provide the full cost of the increases expected in voucher and scholarship programs to ensure adequate planning for budgeting and allocating resources.
Increase funding for school safety infrastructure enhancements to schools, such as building classroom wings onto current campuses to reduce the use of portables at each school site.
Provide additional funding to support programs that enhance kindergarten readiness
Recruiting, Developing and Retaining High-Quality Staff
Enhance funding and resources to recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified teachers and school-based administrators
Provide financial support during the student teaching process to prepare and recruit students into the teaching profession.
Provide additional financial resources and paid training opportunities for educators and employees who work with individuals with disabilities.
Provide adequate funding to recruit and compensate Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors.
Increase and support additional funding for Student Support Services, such as hiring additional school counselors, licensed mental health counselors, and social workers.
Maintain and increase unrestricted funding of the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation, especially for veteran teachers.
