GED Requirement for Minors
GED Testing Requirements for Minors
An Age Waiver is required before a minor can take the GED exam. All criteria must be met in order for an age waiver to be granted by the county and the state. For more details on what is required to complete this application, please see the Age Waiver Application sheet.
Prior to testing, students are advised to enroll in Clay County Adult & Community Education’s GED preparation classes.
Requirements for Minors Enrolling in GED Classes
Students must withdraw from their school, home school or virtual school program and bring in withdrawal paperwork.
Parents must sign all paperwork at meeting with the Testing Specialist in order to enroll their child as a minor into the GED program. The cost of the program is $30 per trimester.
Other Information
High school Seniors can enroll in our Career Certificate programs (911 Dispatch, CNA and Phlebotomy). However, please note that the lack of a HS diploma or GED may hinder their chances of finding employment.
We currently only have one program that has an age requirement and that is Phlebotomy. Students must be at least 18 by the time they begin clinical rotations because they are using needles on patients.
