School Based Services

District Mental Health Clinician

Clinicians work to engage with students and staff school wide to promote mental health awareness, be available for informal interactions, provide Tier 2 interventions on an individual and/or group basis, assist school administration with crisis issues, and serve on the district wide crisis response team.  After gaining parent or guardian consent, Clinicians will provide services to students to identify an immediate issue and resolve concerns in 4-6 sessions either in individual or group format by focusing on positive core values and increasing resiliency through life skills such as self-esteem, anxiety, conflict management, relationships, problem solving, and anger management.

School Social Work

The Clay County School District social workers are the link between the school, home, and community. As members of the educational team comprised of teachers, administrators, other student services staff, and parents, school social workers promote and support students' academic and social success by providing specialized services. 

School Counseling

Clay County School Counselors are advocates of student learning and growth.  Their comprehensive school counseling programs are dedicated to enriching student achievement through academic, social/emotional, behavior, college and career readiness support.

The school counselors meet program goals through the following delivery methods:

  • Classroom instruction

  • Individual student planning/counseling

  • Small group counseling

  • School-wide programs/initiatives

  • Collaboration and consultation with students, staff, parents, and the school community.

Military and Family Life Counseling

MFLC Clinicians offer direct Tier 2 services to military connected students on a short-term basis.  They are also on site at schools to provide support to teachers and administration.  Issues that are typically addressed include bullying, conflict resolution, self confidence, communication, and many others.  Referrals are placed with MFLC Clinicians or through school counselors or social workers. 

Community Partnership Schools

Thousands of Florida students arrive to school each day with more than a backpack – they carry baggage beyond their years: hunger, homelessness, poverty, exposure to violence, mental health struggles, inadequate access to health care and more. They carry so much weight that they simply cannot focus on their education.

Often times, these students and their families simply lack access to the opportunities their neighbors and peers may have. For these students, it’s not about raising the ceiling — it’s about raising the ground floor and our Community Partnership Schools do just that!

Project R.E.A.C.H.

The Project R.E.A.C.H. Program is designed to help students who are experiencing housing transition issues with school related services, as well as collaborating with Community Partners to offer assistance with issues outside of the school environment.
