What is AP ?

AP stands for Advanced Placement. AP courses are available in every academic department at Fleming Island High School.  These courses are designed to be rigorous college level courses and are mediated by the College Board which oversees the examination process.  The courses give students an opportunity to challenge themselves and to learn the skills and experience needed for success, not only in high school but in college and beyond.  Upon completion of each course, the student has an opportunity to be examined to show proficiency within the subject area and could earn college credit for the course.

AP courses on transcripts show colleges that you are intellectually curious, unafraid of hard work, and capable of learning the knowledge and skills expected of college students. In fact, 85% of selective institutions report that a student’s AP experience favorable impacts admission decisions.
