American Sign Language Club

About:
The ASL Club” is a club that seeks to teach students American Sign Language and become aware of Deaf Culture and the Deaf Community. The club also seeks to offer a bridge in communication and understanding between Hard of Hearing and Deaf individuals in the community and their hearing peers.

Battle of the Books

About:
Battle of the Books is a reading competition where students read SSYRA books, summarize them, and then answer questions about them. The competition involves teams of students competing against other teams from Details about Battle of the Books: Books - Students read a minimum of 3 books from the 24-25 6th-8th Sunshine State Young Reader Award list. They are required to pass the correlating quizzes with 70% or better to qualify for the team. Questions - Questions are usually concrete and relate to characters, settings, or important plot events. For example, "In A Work in Process, What is a theme present throughout this book? Competition - Students compete in teams of 4 against other teams from CCSD junior high schools. Benefits - Students gain knowledge and enjoyment from reading, earn prizes, and get to share their achievements with friends, family, and teachers.

Chess Club

Chess Club Form
Chess club is a club formed to play the board game of chess and provide opportunities for members to compete in both informal and tournament games. It can help students learn the rules of chess, and how to analyze the tactics of more advanced players. It can also help students develop cognitive (decision-making, memory, and attention), critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. Chess club can also be a social place where students can meet other peers and teachers who love chess. Plus the game's rules are designed to make it a social game, so it also provides opportunities for members to meet new people.

Future Farmers of America
FFA is a dynamic youth organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. FFA prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. It also develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which gives members the tools to achieve real-world success. However, FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers, It welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners, and more. All students are members if they are enrolled in either Introduction to Agriscience (either semester) or Agricultural Foundations classes. The Florida State Legislator has covered dues for the year..

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a student organization that focuses on the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It provides an incredible opportunity for students to work and grow with other academically accomplished peers. NJHS recognizes its members' accomplishments and challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. To be considered for membership, students must first meet specific academic requirements. Second, they are required to submit an application for review that evaluates the candidate's leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Candidates become members when inducted at a special ceremony.

The 2024 Oakleaf Robotics club will meet before and after school to create a robot fit for competition! Team R.O.B.O.T. will be broken into TWO parts: builders-coders-drivers and notebook. The team will be made up of students with prior knowledge in their chosen position and some positions may overlap.
