Military Lunch Bunch

Military students meet by grade level during their designated Lunch time with other military students.
Lunch Bunch brings military students together where they can share experiences, talk about military life, and personal interest, play games and have fun.
Month of the Military Child

In April, OVE celebrates Month of the Military Child to honor the sacrifices and contribution made by military children. The Campus is decorated in Purple Pinwheels and Month of the Military Child Appreciation Banners. The entire school participates in Military Monday’s where we wear something to support our military students. The school also participates in Purple Up Day where students, faculty and staff wear purple to support our military students. OVE ended Month of the Military with a luncheon for military students and their families.
Yellow Ribbon Ceremony is an event designed to honor and support military-connected students whose parent is deployed. Your family chooses a family tree in the courtyard, writes special notes to each other on the ribbon, and ties it around the tree where it remains as a reminder for all to appreciate and honor your service - while supporting your child. The ribbon tying involves just the deployed family, MFLC and the Assistant Principal. Once home safely we can come back to celebrate by cutting the ribbon! Please Contact Mrs. Nichols if you would like to schedule this.
The Anchored4Life student-led transition support program is a peer-to-peer club designed to connect students while offering positive support, building transition and resiliency skills, and providing resources as they face unique challenges. Student leaders are available to welcome new students, give them a tour of the school, and introduce them to a classroom peer.

As a member of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, Florida recognizes the need to provide support to students of military families. Today’s military children and families experience unique hardships. They move frequently and must adjust to new living environments, schools and peer groups much more than their civilian counterparts. They live through repeated cycles of separation and reunion.
The compact rules are designed to:
Facilitate the transfer of education records and enrollment
Promote smooth transitions to graduation
Promote seamless transitions for course and educational placements
Consider circumstances for excused absences
Facilitate eligibility for enrollment in school and extracurricular participation
