What is the Seal of Fine Arts?

House Bill (HB)523 Section 1003.4321, F.S., Florida Seal of Fine Arts Program for high school graduates, is established within the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to:

  • Recognize high school graduates who have met exemplary benchmarks in fine arts coursework.

  • Encourage students to develop an exemplary level of proficiency in the performing or visual arts.

Submission Details

All applications for the FL Seal of Fine Arts must be submitted online through the link posted here during the application window.

The application window for students graduating in May 2025 will open on January 4, 2025, and close on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to track their own progress towards the Seal of Fine Arts and turn in completed documentation on time.

The Seal of Fine Arts Requirements

  • Successful completion of at least three (3) year-long courses in dance, music, theatre, or visual arts with a grade of “A” or higher in each course, or earned three (3) sequential course credits in such courses with a grade of “A” or higher in each course.

  • Please confirm with your school counselor to ensure you have met this requirement.

  • Students must declare one fine art for the Seal with all requirements connecting to that art.

  • These must be high school credits.

Meet a Minimum of TWO of the Following Requirements

CCDS students who fulfill four or more of these additional requirements will receive district recognition. To be considered, please complete all applicable requirements prior to final application submission. Students must submit all completed documentation on their application to show additional requirements have been met.

Details

Successfully completes a fine arts International Baccalaureate, advanced placement, dual enrollment, or honors course with a grade of “B” or higher.

  • These must be high school credits.

Participates in a district or statewide organization’s juried event as a selected student participant for two (2) or more years.

Records at least twenty-five (25) volunteer hours of arts-related community service in his or her community and presents a comprehensive presentation on his or her experiences pursuant to district procedures.

Submits a portfolio that demonstrates the student is an exemplary practitioner of fine arts.

Receives district, state, or national recognition for the creation and submission of an original work of art. For purposes of this paragraph, the term “work of art” means a musical or theatrical composition, visual artwork or choreographed routine or performance.
